AI will draft your next failure analysis either way. This day is how you make it defensible.
One day, hands on, for teams that have the method and want the acceleration: prompting for reliability work, data preparation workflows, drafted analyses, and the audit discipline that keeps every output defensible. Built from the AI workflows we use to deliver client work.
An AI drafted these three failure mode statements for a slurry pump. One of them is wrong. Which?
What is AI for Reliability Engineering training?
AI for Reliability Engineering is a one-day, hands-on artificial intelligence course from HolisticAM, the Australian reliability engineering and asset management consultancy. We built it for reliability and maintenance engineers who already hold a failure-analysis method and want the clerical half of that work done faster. You turn free-text work orders into failure data. You draft failure mode analyses from OEM manuals and maintenance history. You audit every output for plausible-but-wrong reasoning. The same workflows carry into predictive maintenance and asset management work. The course runs three ways: public classroom in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, live online, or on site at your operation, anywhere in Australia. Public and online seats are $1,295 inc GST. On-site delivery is $7,500 ex GST for up to 10 people. You do not need AI experience. If you do not yet hold a method, start with a methodology course such as Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering.
Four things you can do on the Monday
Most sites are stuck between banning AI and letting it run unchecked. One day that gives your team the third option: use it hard, inside the rules, with the discipline to audit everything it produces.
Draft in minutes what took days
Turn free-text work orders into failure data, summarise years of history, and draft analysis inputs from OEM manuals, with prompts built for reliability work.
Catch plausible-but-wrong
The audit discipline: where AI output fails in reliability work, how to test causality, and how to challenge a fluent draft the way you would challenge a contractor’s.
Leave with a working prompt library
Build and tune your own prompts during the day, on your own equipment and documents, so the capability goes home installed rather than as an idea.
Set it up inside site IT rules
Approved tools, data boundaries and governance. What can leave your network, what cannot, and how to get value without a fight with IT or a breach of an NDA.
One day, six sessions
The morning builds the capability. The afternoon points it at your own equipment and documents, and closes with the setup that makes it stick on site.
- 1Where AI fits in reliability work. What it genuinely accelerates, where it fails, and where it must never make the call.
- 2Prompting fundamentals for reliability engineers. Context, constraints and iteration, taught on failure data rather than toy examples.
- 3Data preparation workflows. Free-text work orders to analysis-ready failure data, in minutes, with the checks that keep it honest.
- 4Drafting the analysis. Failure modes, causes and effects drafted from OEM manuals and your own history, ready for the team to challenge.
- 5Auditing the machine. Plausible-but-wrong: testing causality, spotting invented detail, and challenging a fluent draft.
- 6Set up your site. Approved tools, data boundaries, governance, and building the prompt library you take home.
Bring your own work orders and manuals
The afternoon runs on your documents: a work-order export and an OEM manual for equipment you actually run. You leave with prompts tuned to your assets, not to a textbook pump.
Who this is for
Reliability and maintenance engineers
Anyone who runs FMECAs, Weibull analyses or maintenance reviews and wants the clerical half of that work done in minutes instead of days.
Teams coming off a methodology course
The natural capstone. You have the method; this day installs the acceleration and the audit discipline on top of it.
Managers deciding the AI policy
If you are choosing between banning AI and ignoring it, this day shows the governed third option, with your own IT rules built into the setup.
What you need before you start
No AI experience required. A methodology course first is recommended, because the audit discipline stands on method knowledge, and Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering is enough. Working knowledge of your own equipment does the rest.
The capstone that pairs with every course in the pathway
Every methodology course closes with an AI-assisted session. This day is the full version: deeper, hands on, and set up on your own site’s rules.
Any methodology course
Fundamentals, FMECA, RCM, Weibull or Advanced Reliability Analysis. The method is what makes the audit possible.
AI for Reliability Engineering
1 day. Prompting, data preparation, drafted analyses, audit discipline, site setup.
Your next analysis
The workflows go home with you: a tuned prompt library, a setup checklist, and a team that can judge what the machine produces.
The capability goes home installed
The day ends with a pack your team keeps using, built and tuned during the sessions on your own equipment and documents.
The prompting guide
Written for reliability work specifically: context patterns, constraint patterns, and the iteration discipline that separates a usable draft from a fluent guess.
Your prompt library
Working prompts for data preparation, failure mode drafting, history summarising and manual extraction, tuned during the day to your assets and your CMMS.
The site setup checklist
Approved tools, data boundaries, governance and review gates, written so your IT and your confidentiality obligations are satisfied before the first prompt runs.
We run our own operation this way. The AI workflows taught here are the ones we use to deliver client work, from OEM manual extraction to failure history analysis.
Three ways to take it. One seat or the whole crew.
Every course runs in all three formats. On site is priced as an engagement rather than per head, so crew size is your call. Public and online cohorts confirm once a small minimum books, and every booking is protected: if a date does not confirm, you choose the next cohort, the online session, or a full refund.
Public classroom
Runs in our training room in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. Book one seat or several and work alongside engineers from other operations. Dates confirm once the cohort reaches its minimum.
Live online
Same instructor, same exercises, delivered live rather than recorded. Confirms on a smaller cohort than the classroom, and it is the route in from anywhere outside the Sunshine Coast.
On site at your operation
We come to you and the day runs on your equipment, your documents and your IT rules. One price for any Australian site, travel time included. Flights and accommodation are charged at cost. International sites quoted.
Founding cohorts: $995 inc GST
The first two public dates of this course run at a founding price, in exchange for the thing a new course needs most: your feedback. And if you are booking a methodology course, add this day to the same booking for $895 inc GST.

Founding price applies to the first two public dates. Each cohort is capped at 15 seats. Booking runs through our events calendar, and every booking is protected: if a date does not confirm, you choose the next cohort, the online session, or a full refund.
Taught by the operation that runs on this
HolisticAM delivers client work with these exact AI workflows every week, from manual extraction pipelines to drafted failure registers. The person at the front of the room is teaching their own working toolkit, not a slide deck about someone else’s.
Delivered by the engineering bench, not a training department
Courses are taught by HolisticAM reliability engineers who deliver this same work for clients between courses. Whoever stands at the front ran this analysis on an operating site recently, so the examples are current and the answers are practical.
Proven in delivery
Training is a delivery arm of the consultancy. The most recent full program trained 26 engineers and maintainers at a major Pacific gold operation, delivered live online, with certificates of completion issued.
It gets used on the Monday
Within days of that delivery, attendees were sending their own analyses of live plant equipment back to the trainer for review. That is the outcome every course here is built for.
Before you book
Which AI tools does the course use?
The ones your site allows. The workflows are taught on principles that transfer across the major enterprise AI tools, and the setup session works through your approved options specifically. Nothing in the course locks you to a vendor.
Is our data safe?
That question is a session, not a footnote. The setup session is built around site IT and confidentiality rules: what can leave your network, what cannot, and how to get the value inside those boundaries. Nothing in the course requires sending data anywhere your IT has not approved.
Do we need AI experience?
No. The course assumes reliability knowledge, not AI knowledge. If you can run a failure analysis, the prompting and workflow skills are the easy half, and they are taught from zero.
Do we need a methodology course first?
Recommended, because the audit discipline stands on method knowledge: you cannot challenge a drafted failure mode without knowing what a sound one looks like. Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering is enough, and years of site experience count.
If AI drafts the analysis, why train the engineer at all?
Because the draft is the cheap part. An AI-drafted register looks finished whether it is right or wrong, and the wrong rows read exactly like the right ones: fluently. The engineer who can audit the machine is worth more after AI than before it, and this day is where that capability gets built.
Can I do it online?
Yes. Every course runs live online as well as in the classroom and on site. Online is delivered live with an instructor, not recorded, and you work the same exercises on your own documents.
Where do public courses run?
In our training room in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. If travel does not make sense from where you are, the live online cohort is the same course with the same instructor, and on site delivery brings it to your operation.
The machine will draft. Your team must judge.
One day that turns AI from a question your auditors ask into a capability your site runs on.
