Project Overview

CITIC Pacific Mining’s (CPM) Sino Iron project at Cape Preston is located 100km south west of Karratha, in Western Australia’s resource rich Pilbara region and is the largest magnetite mining and processing operation in Australia. The objectives of this project were to deliver SAP® Work Manager support as a part of a broader HME improvement project.

Scope of work

Citic Pacific Mining engaged Holistic Asset Management to provide a detailed assessment of the implemented SAP® Work Manager, a comprehensive mobile solution for the automation of asset management and field service processes.

The assessment was conducted by utilising a structured process consisting of organisational interviews covering 9 elements of work management principals, analysis for transactional and configuration SAP data and general observations.

HolisticAM mobilised senior asset management consultants to conduct the assessment that required:

  • Work management observations at site
  • Work function interviews
  • Work management questionnaires
  • SAP transactional data review and analysis
  • SAP master data (maintenance strategies, task lists, Bom’s, etc) review and analysis

KEY DELIVERABLES

All personnel interviewed and otherwise involved in supporting or assisting in the assessment, were candid, honest, and forthcoming. Most employees were committed to a higher standard of excellence and aspire to change. They firmly believe that a strong partnership between Maintenance and Operations will generate a multiplier effect on performance and they expressed a sincere desire to make improvements to become the benchmark across the organisation.

    • Work management
    • Maintenance strategies
    • Performance measures

The maturity assessment was completed against the “9 Elements” of the work management process. This resultant report detailed the level of maturity along with the issues related to each subject and the proposed project works to close the gap to the required level of maturity. The assessment was completed against 5 levels of maturity.
