Master Data Governance for Asset Hierarchy Mapping and Job Plans & PM Routes Development
Holistic Asset Management (HolisticAM) was engaged by the client to provide master data governance/master data management services. The objective of this project was to construct the new Maximo Asset Location and Asset Hierarchy from legacy CMMS and develop job plans and routes for all facilities management preventative and statutory maintenance requirements. On completion of the master data mapping and the development of the job plans and PM routes, Maximo Master Data load sheet was populated ready for the client’s ERP import.
Due to the travel restriction during the Covid-19 pandemic, HolisticAM mobilised a specialist Master Data consultant to work remotely with teams in New Zealand and Australia by using Microsoft Teams video technology and email to ensure the project was delivered on time and within budget.
The client is a leading provider of operations and maintenance services across all sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, transportation and mining in Australia and New Zealand.
The client was required to maintain facilities for a state-owned enterprise that is responsible for rail operations in New Zealand. The legacy data provided was unstructured and constrained.
- Large quantity of Assets and Locations across New Zealand;
- Identification and Alignment to the New Zealand Building Statutory requirements;
- Identification of stand preventative job plans and sequenced PM routes;
- Internal resource shortage.
As a result, the client required a thorough analysis to determine the optimum Asset Location Hierarchy structure and develop job plans and routes for all facilities management preventative and statutory maintenance requirements.
THE SOLUTION – Master Data Governance
HolisticAM offered two primary Maintenance Management services in this project: 1) Maintenance Master Data Design and Configuration; 2) Job Plan, Route & PM Data Development
A specialist Master Data consultant reviewed and assessed the legacy master data supplied. It turned out that the data supplied was unstructured and constrained in terms of Job Plan & PM data.
The required assessment includes:
- Review New Zealand Statutory Requirements
- Review all assets against recommended Job plan requirements
- Conduct Master Data Cleansing.
HolisticAM successfully engaged with key stakeholders across the Australian and New Zealand asset and business systems teams to provide master data governance services. The adoption of Microsoft Teams and Video conferencing enabled a seamless engagement and communication channel. Through working as a collaborative team, a complete Maximo Location and Asset Hierarchy was created with associated maintenance job plans and PM Routes that aligned with the client’s business needs.

- Creation of Maintenance Master Data including Job Plan, Route & PM data
In this project, HolisticAM created multiple benefits for the client. There was a significant cost saving for the client because of the flexibility of our services. The client now also has confidence that the data loaded into their CMMS ensures their statutory and safety related obligations are met.
